Our guides are desk research built on primary sources. Here is how a page comes together.

Sources we use

Official project documentation, release notes and repositories.
Manufacturer specification pages for hardware and power figures.
Providers’ own pricing pages for VPS plans.

Dates

Each source is cited with the day we checked it, and each guide shows a “Last updated” date. Prices and versions change, so check the linked source before you buy or upgrade.

What we do not do

We do not run lab or hands-on tests, and we never invent specs or prices. Where an official figure does not exist (for example, wall power for many mini PCs) we say so instead of guessing.

Calculators

Our calculators use only official figures plus the values you enter. Example defaults are labelled as examples.
